You will think that you will make pennies and that it’s impossible to make money from it… BUT, that’s exactly how it would be if you don’t take the time to learn step by step the whole process! Many of you think that you can upload a bunch of old pictures into different websites and they will make money. Ok, I thought that too! Let me tell you that I was well wrong… You really can make even a full salary from it but no this way at all.

After a few failures, I took the time to learn everything about Stock Photography and now I’m finally taking a bit cut from it every month!

I recommend you to watch all the videos but if you just have time for one right now, watch this one above. It will cover all of these essential topics:

1. WHAT IS STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY

I know, it may seem obvious but it’s not. As a photographer, you have to learn what is stock photography and what it means to “sell” your pictures. Who keeps the copyright, royalties, licenses, and more.

2. MACRO STOCK AND MICRO STOCK WEBSITES

You will learn the difference between this kind of websites. How to choose the right one for you, and learn which ones sell the most depending on your content.

3. SIGNING UP, UPLOAD AND LEARN TITLES, DESCRIPTIONS, AND TAGS

Once you decide on which websites you want to apply for, learn the upload process so your pictures are discoverable by clients. It’s quite hard at the beginning when you don’t know how to do it but that’s why I take you through the whole process.

4. AGENCIES

Take a look at the best agencies that help you with the distribution and the time-consuming process of tagging.

5. MODEL AND PROPERTY RELEASES

If you don’t get these documents filled and signed, you will be rejected by the websites. Take the time to learn everything about them and learn the tricks to make things easier for you during photoshoots.

6. START NOW!

Starting in stock photography can be challenging at the beginning but once you start and you grow your online galleries, you will make a lot of money! Of course, it will depend on the number of pictures you have and the quality. But so many photographers make a living out of this!

I personally don’t have massive galleries but even though they are small, I’m making a fair amount every month which helped me immensely during the lockdown. That’s why it’s super important that you start as soon as possible. You never know when you won’t be able to rely on clients!
